Spend 1-2 winter days with Yakutian villagers and horse breeders in the Siberian wilderness and learn more about the Yakutian horse (Wiki), unique breed originated in the Republic of Sakha-Yakutia and accustomed to live in the extreme cold.

Tour Details:

Duration: 1-n-2-day trip.
Summer/autumn period: June – September (with the use of a transport ferry for river crossing).
Autumn period: October – November (with the use of a passenger hovercraft for river crossing).
Winter period: late November till early April (by an ice road across the Lene River).
Dates: any day on request only.
Group size: 1-4 pax.

DAY YAKUTIAN HORSE BREEDING FARM TOUR IN SUMMER:

Itinerary:

08:00 – Picking-up at hotel in Yakutsk.
08:30 – 10:30 – Crossing the Lena River by a transport ferry between Yakutsk and Nizhny Bestyakh (on the map), 16 km. Stop for photographing on the river.
11:00 – 11:30 – Driving from Nizhny Bestyakh to Mayya, 35 km.
11:30 – 13:00 – Visit to the place of the annual Yakut national holiday “Ysyakh.” Visit to Mayya Regional Museum of History. Mayya is a homeland for Manchaary, who was a Sakha hero like Robin Hood. A couple of centuries ago, he helped poor people by robbering insolent rich ones.
13:00 – 14:30 – Lunch at family’s in the village.
14:30 – 18:00 – Visit to the Yakutian horse breeding farm, deep in the forest, 20 km from Maya. Walking across horsebreeders’ farm. Feeding Yakutian horses. Horseback ride. Horse sleigh ride. Preparing ice for horses. Preparing a hole in the ice of frozen river for horses to drink water. Photographing. Snacks and hot beverages in a log cabin.
19:00 – 21:00 – Way back to hotel in Yakutsk.

Day 1

09:00 – 09:30 – Driving on the ice road across the Lena River between Yakutsk and Nizhny Bestyakh (on the map), 16 km. Stop for photographing the sunrise over the river.
09:30 – 10:00 – Driving from Nizhny Bestyakh to Mayya, 35 km.
10:00 – 11:30 – Stop at Mayya Regional Museum of History. Mayya is a homeland for Manchaary, who was a Sakha hero like Robin Hood. A couple of centuries ago, he helped poor people by robbering insolent rich ones.
12:00 – 13:00 – Lunch at family’s in the village of Petrovka.
13:00 – 15:00 – Driving from Mayya to a horse breeding farm through a traditional Yakutian village and snowy forest, 20 km.
15:00 – 17:00 – Walking across horsebreeders’ farm. Feeding Yakutian horses. Horseback ride. Horse sleigh ride. Photographing forest & field during the sunset.
17:00 – 17:30 – Brunch in a log cabin. Hot beverages & snacks.
18:00 – 19:00 – Sauna. Some might try to dive into snowdrifts.
19:00 – 21:00 – Dinner.
Overnight in a cabin.

Day 2

08:00 – 09:00 – Breakfast.
09:00 – 12:00 – Snowmobiling or sleigh ride through the forest to spot and enjoy Yakutian horses pastured in the wilderness on their own. Warm fur clothes are provided.
13:00 – Back to the log cabin. Lunch.
14:00 – 18:00 – Horse riding. Observing the sunset over forest. Free time.
18:00 – 19:00 – Driving back to Yakutsk.
20:00 – Back to hotel.
